Read for 15 Challenge

Read for 15 Challenge

Family Literacy Day is celebrated every year on January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities. The goal of the Read for 15 Challenge is to encourage families and community members to read! Wainwright is vying to be the “Most Readerly” community in Alberta by having the highest population reading for 15 minutes on Family Literacy Day, January 27th. We are joining the challenge along with communities across Alberta!

So, how does it work?

On Thursday, January 27th, we work together as a community to get the highest percentage of people reading for 15 minutes at some point during the day. This can include reading anything—a magazine, a book, some educational material, even Facebook! As long as it’s reading, it counts. Fill out the webform below to report how many people in your home, office, or school participated and help us earn the title of Most Readerly Community! You can also post on Facebook using #Readfor15Wainwright. We will then tally up the number of people who read, divide it by our current population and send it off to see if we are the community that has the bragging rights for the year!
Remember to challenge your friends, neighbors and coworkers to read for 15 and register their minutes.

Deadline to register your minutes: January 28 at noon.
